In Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, Barbara Kingsolver writes about her family’s experience of only eating what they could grow or raise themselves for one whole year. Initially, they expected to miss favorites foods, and focused their anxieties on what they wouldn’t be able to have. But, she writes, “when we changed our thinking and started every meal with the question, ‘What do we have? What’s in season? What do we have plenty of?’ — it became really a long exercise in gratitude.”
From this place of abundance and bounty, we invite you to ponder the particularity of your giftedness and your willingness to share your gifts of time and talent with our congregation. What do you have? What’s in season for you? What do you have plenty of? What, in other words, would it be a joy for you to share?
By no means comprehensive, the survey linked on this page includes many and varied concrete ways to plug into the life of our congregation and share your gifts. At the end of the survey, you’ll have a chance to name gifts of yours that may not appear here, and share with us a vision of how you might share from your abundance with our community.
